This
section was created specifically to communicate important information
to the counselors of Nursing Mothers Alliance. If you are not a
counselor but are interested in becoming one, click here
for more information. The next training course has completed for
the Spring and a new one will start in the Fall. We also have an email group for the NMA counselors. All current counselors should
have received information and an email on how to join the group.
If you have not, please email us at nmapasub@yahoo.com.
The
most important concern for the Nursing Mothers Alliance counselors
is the coverage of the WARMLINE. The WARMLINE is an important
service we provide. All warmline protocol is listed below, and if
it changes those changes will be reflected here. The protocol includes
the following sections:
There are now
two remaining groups in Nursing Mothers Alliance. The Warmline
coverage has been modified to spread the workload more evenly between
the 2 groups. Each group will have a specific Warmline Coordinator
(WC) who will be in charge of assigning different counselors to
the coverage period. The WC's are as follows:
Wayne,
Paoli, Malvern, King of Prussia
Heather
West
Chester/Exton
Karen
Each counselor
is to answer the Warmline for a 4-5 day period during their group's
assigned period. This section shows the months and what group is
responsible for answering the warmline during each period. Dates
are as of January 2007.

Warmline
Instructions
Here are the
instructions that each counselor should follow when answering the
Warmline. The Warmline should be checked at least twice a day -
once in the morning and once in the evening. In an effort to get
back to the moms more quickly we are asking all counselors to not
just call the appropriate referrals person
and leave it at that. Please, first and foremost, call the mom
directly and offer help as needed. Get her address and then
tell her who you are referring her to and give her the group name.
Tell her to call back if she has not been contacted by the
group within 24 hours and needs further assistance.
Then call the
appropriate group referrals person and
let them have further contact with the mom. Save the messages on
the warmline until you speak with a person. Below are the specific
instructions for listening and saving messages.
Call 610-993-9012.
Since you have a mailbox, enter * (star). Then enter 610-251-9405.
You will then be prompted for a passcode. For security reasons,
we have removed the passcode from this website. However, if you
contact your group GC or referral's person, they can provide it
to you.
A voice will
say how many messages you have and whether they are new or saved.
To listen, press 1.
After each
message, you may save (press 2) or erase (press 3). NOTE: if you
accidentally erase a message it isn't gone until you hang up.
Return to the main menu by pressing *, find the message you want
and press 2 to save it when you have listened again.
The options
to find the message you want are below:
To skip to
the next message, press #.
To repeat
the current message, press 1.
To hear the
previous message, press 6, then 4.
To find out
the time and day of the current message, press 6, then 5.
To rewind
5 seconds (good for getting phone numbers) press 7.
To go forward
5 seconds, press 9.
To pause
for 20 seconds, press 8. You can press any key to continue.
To return
to the main menu, press *.
To exit contine
to press * until you hear "Thank you for calling".
Please log all
calls on our Warmline log. This log can either be printed, or you
may save a copy to fill out electronically. Either way is fine.

Counselors
Email Group
To facilitate
communication among the counselors, NMA has created an email group.
You can sign up (and unsubscribe, for example if you are switching
email addresses) by using the following links. The group is not
open to the public, all requests are approved by the NMA moderator.
To sign up:
send an email to NMA_Counselors-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
When your request has been approved, you will receive detailed information
on how to send information to the group.
To start
sending messages to members of this group: simply send email
to NMA_Counselors@yahoogroups.com.
This is a low volume list, as it is simply used to facilitate communication
between the counselors concerning NMA events and breastfeeding counseling
concerns and reference information.
